This is where PetProov steps in, offering a secure, reliable and thorough verification process to ensure you make informed and confident decisions when buying or adopting a pet.

At PetProov, we understand the importance of trust when it comes to bringing a new pet into your home or selling a precious pet. Our app is designed to verify the identities of pet buyers, breeders and adopters, providing a comprehensive risk report to help you make the best decision.
How it works:
1. Download the App
Available on both the App Store for iPhone users and the Play Store for Android, getting started with PetProov is as easy as downloading the app.
2. Registration
Sign up with your email address and create a secure password. We’ll then send a verification link to your inbox to confirm your email address.
3. Onboarding
Our onboarding screens will provide you with more information about PetProov and what you can expect from our service.
4. Provide Your Information
Fill in your details, including your name and phone number. Breeders will need to provide additional information such as their business name, registered council and license number.
5. Start Your First Task
Access your task dashboard to begin. Your first task will involve providing detailed information about the pet and the people involved in the transaction. The required details differ slightly for buyers / adopters and breeders:
For buyers & adopters: Provide the pet’s name, breed, litter’s date of birth, and listing location. Include the seller or shelter’s name, email and phone number.
For breeders: Along with the pet details, provide additional information like the Kennel Club info, microchip number and supporting documents as evidence. Include the buyer or adopter’s name, email and phone number.
6. Complete Verification Tasks
After the first task, you’ll unlock additional tasks to verify your identity:
Proof of identity: Scan an ID document and your face using government-grade technology to ensure a match. Powered by our partner Onfido, this process is secure and keeps your data within the app.
Proof of address: Submit a bank statement or utility bill to confirm your address. Also powered by Onfido, this adds an extra layer of security.
7. Payment for Verification
Once your tasks are complete, you’ll make a one-time payment of 99p (limited time offer) to generate a risk report. This is a small price compared to the average loss of £1,400 in pet scams.
8. Wait for the Other Party
After you complete your tasks and payment, the other person involved in the transaction will be notified to complete their tasks. Once they do, we’ll generate and send you the risk report.
9. Read Your Risk Report
Your task dashboard will show your easy-to-understand risk report, rating the transaction as low, medium, or high risk. The report includes guidance to help you decide how to proceed, along with additional research guides for deeper insight.
