#BreakingtheLink between animal and human violence

At PetProov, we believe that responsible pet ownership extends beyond the confines of our app. It's about creating a safer, more compassionate world for both animals and people. That's why we were honoured to participate in an important event at the Houses of Parliament on 24th October 2023.

There’s a direct link between domestic violence and animal abuse

For centuries, the connection between animal abuse and domestic violence has been known. It's a dark reality that these two forms of abuse often coexist, causing immense suffering to both pets and people.

The evidence is undeniable, supported by extensive academic research. However, the criminal justice system has not always adequately addressed this crucial link.

Naturewatch Foundation has been at the forefront of efforts to raise awareness about the animal-human violence link and advocate for improvements to UK criminal justice policy through their Protect Animals - Protect People campaign. PetProov shares this commitment to change and progress.

Why this link matters - and how we can break it

During National Domestic Abuse Awareness Month in October, we had the privilege of attending a panel with All-Party Parliamentary Dog Advisory Welfare Group (APDWAG) and Naturewatch Foundation for an event that put the spotlight on the animal-human violence link. Breaking the Link: Protect Animals. Protect People. gathered passionate individuals and experts in the field to discuss why this link matters and what steps are needed to break it.

PetProov's presence at this crucial event reflects our commitment to ethical pet ownership and our desire to contribute to the broader conversation about the welfare of both animals and people. We shared insights on how our platform can help verify and promote responsible pet transactions, adding another layer of protection for animals in vulnerable situations.

As we reflect on our experience in parliament, we invite you to join us in breaking the link between animal and human violence. Together, we can make a significant impact, not just within our app but in society as a whole.
